AESAthon is the aerospace contest organized by AESA Torino, a student association from Politecnico di Torino, which goal is to gather aerospace enthusiasts by organizing workshops, guided tours and conferences.
This year, the fourth edition of the hackathon will be held at the Agorà hall of I3P, the innovative companies incubator located in the Campus of Politecnico di Torino. The event will take place on two separate days: on Friday, May 10th, from 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM, and on Wednesday, May 15th, from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM. The initiative is promoted in collaboration with ESA BIC Turin, the incubation program for start-ups of the space sector, run by I3P in partnership with Politecnico di Torino and LINKS Foundation.
During the first day of May 10th, the event speakers will present the theme of the contest, which will be kept secret until then, and on which the participating teams will have to produce an original and innovative project, able to solve the proposed problems. The teams will be composed of 4 students enrolled in any Bachelor's or Master's degree of both Engineering and Architecture, from the Polytechnic University of Turin.
Then, during the second day on May 15th, the teams will present their projects in front of the jury, composed of the speakers, who will evaluate the projects and select the winning team.
How to join the event
To register and take part in the initiative, it is necessary to fill in the registration form.
Each student wishing to participate must fill in the form individually and may indicate up to three names of students with whom they intend to form a team. The other team members will still have to go through the same registration procedure.
AESA Torino's staff will add participants to a team with fewer than four members, if required, with the aim of getting as many people as possible to participate in the event.
The event is totally free of charge, but places are limited and a deposit of €10 will be requested to confirm registration, which will then be returned on May 15th at the end of the contest following the delivery of the entry.
Priority will be given to already formed teams, but in the case of entrants who have not been able to find a complete team, AESA Torino will create them.
The contest, the speakers' speeches and the presentations of the papers will be delivered in Italian language; however, it is possible to participate in the contest if there is at least one person in the team who speaks and writes in Italian.
